| Gillingham Marina - Major Projects -
Royal Nore |
|
Royal Nore is
the prestige royal and diplomatic launch for London. She is a
Nelson 61 vessel, built by Tough Brothers, in 1971, with GRP
hull and wooden superstructure. In late 2006 Gillingham Marina
redesigned the vessel and undertook a ‘life extension
programme’ for the owners, the Port of London Authority.
This comprehensive programme included: Removing the
superstructure and deck; undertaking osmosis treatment of the
underwater hull; redesigning and rebuilding the galley and upper
saloons; installing new engines, generator, hot & cold fresh
water and heating systems; providing a complete new wiring,
electrical and electronic systems; constructing a new
superstructure; re-decking and repainting.
The project was successfully completed to the MCA’s regulations
for passenger ships, in time for the PLA’s 2007 events
programme. |
