Gillingham Marina - Major Projects - Havengore
Another notable repair job accomplished by Gillingham Marina has been to the vessel Havengore. Built in 1956 and operated originally as a survey vessel for the Port of London Authority, Havengore served for over 40 years before being retired in 1995. Every year for the last four winters, statutory certification and restoration work to the vessel’s interior and decks has been carried out at Gillingham Marina Workshops, all in satisfaction of the MCA’s requirements.

The Havengore provides for the quality end of charter work for the Thames. The vessel’s history being of much interest, for she was used was during the State funeral of Sir Winston Churchill, in 1965, when Havengore conveyed Sir Winston Churchill’s body up the Thames to Waterloo.

This year, Gillingham Marina Workshops have completed the fourth phase of the restoration with an 8 week job on the Havengore to remove rot from the vessel's gunwale area and the internal shelf, to keep the launch in tip-top condition.
